The Ogden Mustangs have added hulking Swedish defenseman Axel Löw for the 2017-18 season.
Löw is the 11th Mustang signee announced thus far. Of the 11, he’s the tallest at 6-feet-4 inches. Overall, the Mustangs should have considerable size on this year’s team as six of the 11 current signees stand at 6-feet-1-inch or taller.
The beginning of the season creeps closer and closer. The 2017-18 schedule was released yesterday, with the season opening Sept. 22 in Colorado and the home opener on Sept. 29. Löw and the Mustangs are set to arrive in Ogden toward the end of august with training camp taking place the final week of the month.
“I’m very excited,” Löw said. “I’m not really sure what to expect exactly, but from what I have heard about Ogden and the Mustangs from Coach Laime and former players, it should be a great experience.”
Born in 1998, Löw still has two seasons of junior hockey eligibility remaining. He weighs in at 203 pounts. His hometown in Lidingö, Sweden. He’s a two-way defenseman who should be an asset to the Mustangs’ depth this season.
