The Ogden Mustangs have added defenseman Daniel Nordström for the 2017-18 season.

Nordström joins fellow Swedish defensemen Axel Löw and Tim Jonsson as first-year Mustang defensemen. The Mustangs also have two Swedish forwards signed, making five of the 14 players the team has currently announced from Sweden.

“I’m very excited to play for Ogden,” Nordström said. “I’ve heard a lot of positive things about Ogden as a city and hockey organization, so I could not be more excited to play there.”

Along with getting details from Mustangs head coach Jake Laime throughout the recruiting process, Nordström is also a friend of former Mustang Montell Greene, who provided him with added insight.

Born in 1998, Nordström has two seasons of junior hockey eligibility remaining. At 6-feet and 187 pounds, he’s a two-way defenseman who plays with a physical edge and is a special-teams specialist. Nordström officially calls Vaxholm, Sweden home.

Last season, Nordström registered 10 assists in 34 games for Sollentuna in the Swedish J20 Elit. He was a +11.

More signings will be announced throughout the month as preparations begin for the new season to start in September. Follow us on FacebookTwitter and Instagram to stay connected.
