Coming down the PIKE!
The Ogden Mustangs are pleased to announce the signing of Goalie Nicholas Pike for the 2022-2023 season. “I've heard nothing but good things about the Mustangs. The organization is one of those that really cares about their players and wants everyone to reach their full potential. I couldn't turn down an opportunity to be a part of that.” states the Guilderland, New York resident.
“Nicholas is a great kid and soaks information in like a sponge. We have known him for a couple of years now, seeing him at multiple Mustangs tryouts in Pennsylvania. He’s hungry for an opportunity and this is his time.” Coach Kenny Orlando states. “There’s no question he will leave it all on the ice and that’s going to be necessary competing against our talent currently in the crease. I’m excited for Nicholas to take that next step in his development, playing against some high-end players every day.” Orlando adds.
Pike adds, “My style of play is different compared to most goalies. I focus on the speed and strength of each individual movement I make. I keep players on their toes and make them think they have a lot more net open than they really do. I can cover a lot of ground quickly and take away dangerous scoring opportunities.”
Pike has experience playing AAA hockey in New York, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire which will prepare him well for his step into junior hockey. Nicholas is hungry to come in and compete with already signed high-end goalies, Trey Hirschfield and Owen Yancey.
“My personal goals for the season are just to improve as a player and as a person. I'm looking to take every aspect of my game to the next level and to work as hard as I can.” Pike concludes.
