Newcomer Izadi Finds His Home; Joins the Stangs

OGDEN, UT. – The Ogden Mustangs, proud members of the United States Premier Hockey League, are excited to announce the signing of Lewis Izadi for the 2021-22 season.

Izadi (Buena Park, CA) joins Ogden after last playing for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings 18U AAA. A physical and rugged forward, Izadi will bring an edge to the team that was missed towards the end of last season.

"In the beginning of the off-season, I started training with Jr. Ducks Coach August Aikens and my goal originally was to make his team. One of the conversations leading up to the off-season with Coach Aikens was him telling me that the best move was to play juniors next season. From there he was able to connect me with Coach Orlando. We met at Globals last month and after a few conversations he offered me a spot on the Mustangs."

The '03 Southern California native checks in at 6-0, 195 lbs potted 5 goals and 3 assists in 23 games in 2020-21. Izadi's grinder style of hockey and love for playing in front of the net should translate well for his highly skilled teammates that are already on the roster.

"I have been doing a lot to get ready and prepare for my first season of juniors. I work with my trainer Ronnie White off-ice four days a week and focus on the training that will translate to my game on the ice. Then getting on the ice for stick time, practice and scrimmages 4 to 5 times a week helps me use the skills I am continuously adding to my game. Even getting in my rollerblades when I have free time to get as many extra touches and shots as I can get."

With the addition of Izadi, Head Coach Kenny Orlando has his first official newcomer added to the team while also bringing in a player that will bring an edge to the lineup that was missed last season.

“Lewis is a person of great character and it shows in his game on the ice. He goes to the dirty areas and keeps the game simple which benefits his line mates. He will add a combination of grit and skill to the depth of the roster for the Mustangs forwards this season. We are excited to work with him.”

One of the first newcomers to join the Mustangs 21-22 squad, Izadi has shown a mature and professional approach both on and off the ice this Summer. Known for being a supportive teammate, the opportunities he is able to create for his teammates will help push the pace and keep the pressure on throughout the season.

"I am extremely excited to be a part of the Mustangs and I've heard amazing things from both within and outside the organization. For the team, you should expect to see some great hockey and, just from the feel of what I've seen already, this team looks like it's going to compete day-in and day-out. I'm very excited to be apart of that and contribute to the success that we will bring this season.
