OGDEN, UT. – The Ogden Mustangs, proud members of the United States Premier Hockey League, are excited to announce the signing of Randon Striplin for the 2021-22 season.
Striplin (Grand Rapids, MI), along with his family, made the trek to Ogden this Summer and now the '03 netminder will now be trading the Great Lakes for Great Salt Lake in just a few days. His efforts throughout the camp and all off-season paid dividends and now he is the second goaltender to sign with the Mustangs for the upcoming 2021-22 season.
"I really enjoyed my time in Ogden; the staff and fans were very inviting and the faculties are top-notch."
Officially listed at 6-2, 175 lbs, Striplin is another solid addition to an already solid roster put together by the coaching staff. During the 2020-21 season at Fox Motors 18U AAA, he posted a record of 18-9, .923 SV% and 2.10 GAA in 27 games played. It was the third consecutive year that he was elevated to a higher team in the Fox Motors program and each year he continued elevate his game. An athletic and cerebral player, it was Striplin's aggressiveness and professionalism that saw him gain invites to both USHL and NAHL Main Camps as well as their respective Futures All-Star Games in 2020.
"I use my athleticism & agility to move quickly and with precision. I really focus on tracking. Before games I listen to music and go about my routine to get locked in for the game."
Now featuring two highly-touted goaltenders, Head Coach Kenny Orlando will now have two great options in net throughout each weekend of play.
"It was a pleasure meeting Randon and his family during our Ogden tryout week. He demonstrated qualities that we want in all of our Mustangs players; throughout camp he was consistent and relentless on pucks. Off the ice, he was professional, polite, and extremely motivated to get back in the crease and perform his best. Randon will challenge our shooters on a daily basis in practice and his play will take another huge step competing for our crease day-to-day."
This will be Striplin's first season at the junior level but the excitement of a new team, league and experience is just the beginning of what appears to be a promising career for the young Michigander.
"I am looking forward to meeting the guys and traveling with the team as well as developing my game in Ogden."
